Maha Mantra

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama

Rama Rama Hare Hare

The “Maha Mantra” (maha meaning ‘greatest’), also known as the “Hare Krishna Mantra,” is proclaimed as the supreme mantra for realization and progression in Krishna (God) consciousness. Krishna himself has revealed this fact during his appearance in 16th century India as Lord Chaitanya, who has revealed the Sankirtan method of liberation for this age of misfortune and inauspiciousness referred to as the Kali Yuga. During his past-times Lord Chaitanya clearly demonstrated and explained the process of realization of God Consciousness through the congregational chanting of God’s holy names, “Harinam Sankirtan.”

This Maha mantra is found through scriptural references and its significance is better explained by bonafide devotees here: https://www.krishna.com/some-scriptural-references-hare-krishna-maha-mantra
